Rohit Sharma has been dismissed for a golden duck in his 150th T20I match. Rohit became the first player to play 150 matches in the format. But the historic match could not have been worse for him as a batter, as he registered a golden duck in the match. It comes after the star batter registered a silver duck in the first T20I against Afghanistan at Mohali earlier this week.

It was the same bowler again who ensured the wicket of Rohit. Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled a beautiful delivery to get rid of the star batter. In the first T20I, Farooqi did not dismiss him but bowled to the batter. Rohit was dismissed due to an unfortunate run-out in the first match. Rohit was furious with Shubman Gill whom he thought was responsible for the dismissal.

The lack of communication between the two meant that the Indian opener was back in the hut in the first T20I. However, this time around, the mistake is completely of Rohit. The 36-year-old stepped outside of the crease and tried to hit the boundary of the very first ball. But he failed to make contact completely and got trapped in the delivery of the left-arm pacer.

Crowd stunned by dismissal of Rohit Sharma

Farooqi bowled a back of a length delivery to Rohit. As the Indian batter stepped out to hit the ball, it turned out to be a good ball. As a result, Sharma ended up missing it completely. The ball hit the top of the middle stump. The Afghanistan players celebrated it like a huge event. The crowd was stunned to see the Indian captain for a golden duck in a historic match.

The last few weeks have not been great for Rohit Sharma. After losing the ODI WC final in 2023, Rohit did not play for a month. In the period, it was announced that Hardik Pandya would lead MI in the IPL 2024. India later lost the Centurion Test. In the ongoing series against Afghanistan, the star batter has registered back-to-back ducks.
