Irfan Pathan talked about potential changes from India against South Africa for the 2nd Test. The former Indian cricketer gave his viewpoints and also saw from the perspective of Rohit Sharma and mentioned the changes that could happen for the second Test. The former Indian All-rounder felt that Ravindra Jadeja could make it to the playing XI if he gets declared fit.

Pathan felt that Jadeja was missed by India in the first test despite having a world-class spinner like Ravichandran Ashwin who bowled very well in the first Test. But Irfan felt that having someone like Jadeja would be more beneficial as he can contribute more with the bat and can claim wickets. In fact, Jadeja has a good record in South Africa as a bowler although the sample size is less.

“Ravindra Jadeja, if fit, should come back in the team. Ashwin did bowl well from what was expected out of him on that pitch, but we missed Jadeja’s control while batting at number 7 in Centurion,” said Pathan while talking about the potential changes of India for the Cape Town Test in an interview. The former cricketer further talked about the viewpoint of Rohit Sharma for the 2nd Test.

‘Mukesh Kumar could come in for Prasidh Krishna’ – Irfan Pathan

Irfan felt that Rohit would be hoping to go with the same bowling attack to give the bowlers the confidence they need. He added that if Rohit would be thinking about making a change, then Prasidh Krishna might make way for Mukesh Kumar. Irfan added that if Rohit feels confident about Prasidh, then he must be backed. “If you’re Rohit Sharma and you want to go with the same bowling attack, that’s also fine,” added Pathan in his statement.

“But if you’re thinking of making a change, Mukesh Kumar could come in for Prasidh Krishna. But if you feel Prasidh is confident in the nets, then he should be backed for the second Test,” Pathan concluded. India would be hoping to level the series 1-1 and start the calendar year of 2024 on a high.
