There has been considerable speculation surrounding the fitness of Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya in recent times. Pandya sustained an ankle injury during the Cricket World Cup 2023, leading to his mid-tournament withdrawal. This injury not only ruled him out of the South Africa tour but also raised concerns about his potential absence from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and other national team commitments, as indicated by several reports.

However, the fans received a New Year’s gift as the cricketer shared his gym session on social media, showcasing his intense workout. The star all-rounder looked determined to make a comeback. Pandya was seen undergoing all the exercises under the supervision of the trainer. Both his IPL franchise as well as Indian fans will be praying for his speedy recovery as the T20 World Cup is also around the corner.

Hardik Pandya will be leading Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024

Before the IPL 2024 auction, Hardik Pandya made a sensational transfer to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans and was named the captain for the upcoming season. The all-rounder took over the leadership from India skipper Rohit Sharma, who had been leading Mumbai Indians in the IPL for the past 10 seasons.

In the 2022-23 season, Pandya played 31 matches for Gujarat Titans. He scored 833 runs at an average of 37.86 and a strike rate exceeding 133. The star all-rounder achieved six half-centuries, with a highest score of 87*. Additionally, he contributed with the ball, taking 11 wickets, and his best bowling figures were 3/17.

In the period from 2015 to 2021, Pandya participated in 92 matches for Mumbai Indians, amassing 1,476 runs at an average of 27.33 and a strike rate surpassing 153. His contributions included four half-centuries, and his highest individual score was 91. Additionally, he secured 42 wickets for the team, with the best bowling figures being 3/20.
