Likely IPL 2024 start date revealed
In a major development, it has come to light that IPL 2024 is likely to start on the 22nd of March. The league will run for two months before the final which is likely to take place at the end of May.
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is set to most of the early part of the IPL 2024 season. The right arm pacer will be taking some time off to be with his family as he is expecting the birth of his child.
Meanwhile, young English spinner Rehan Ahmed has pulled out of the IPL 2024 auctions. English Cricket doesn’t want the youngster to spend too much time away from family. Player burnout and possible injuries are also one of the reasons behind this move.
It is understood that the English Board has made it clear to the Indian Board that the players will be available for the entire season. But there are a few riders about fitness and international commitment. In the case of Rehan Ahmed the youngster is set to be part of the 5-match test versus India set to begin in January.
Mustafizur Rahman has been cleared to play in IPL 2024 if he gets picked during the Auction. Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam meanwhile will not be part of the upcoming season due to international matches. The two players have withdrawn their names from the Auction.
Finally, Dushmanta Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga will be playing the entire season in IPL 2024. Since the duo does not feature in Sri Lanka’s plans in test cricket during the said period when IPL 202 is set to be played.
