The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is all set to create history as it ventures beyond Indian shores for the first time, with Dubai, UAE, playing host to the much-anticipated event on December 19. With the franchise deadline for submitting the list of retained players set for November 26, the excitement and speculation surrounding the auction are already reaching a fever pitch.

For IPL 2024, each team will have a salary purse of Rs 100 crore, an increase of Rs 5 crore from the previous year, making the bidding war even more intense. Cricket fans can expect fireworks as star players and rising talents go under the hammer in the quest for franchise glory.

The return of Australia’s premier pacer, Mitchell Starc, to the IPL adds an extra layer of excitement to the upcoming season. Starc has expressed his eagerness to be part of the IPL once again, promising some thrilling moments on the cricket field.

Romario Shepherd gets traded to MI from LSG

Meanwhile, West Indies star all-rounder Romario Shepherd is set to embark on a new journey in IPL as he has been traded to the Mumbai Indians (MI) from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This move marks a significant development in the ongoing trading window, as it is the first reported player exchange for the upcoming season.

The 28-year-old cricketer, who has played 25 ODIs and 31 T20Is for the West Indies, originally entered the IPL scene when he was picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2022. However, Shepherd’s stint with SRH was brief, playing just three games before being released. LSG subsequently acquired him for INR 50 Lakh. Despite his brief tenure with LSG, the franchise has opted to trade him to MI.

As the IPL 2024 auction draws nearer, teams are busy finalizing their retentions, making this a crucial period for strategic player movements within the league. Fans can expect more player shuffles and intriguing developments as the IPL 2024 season approaches.
