The men’s team for India in the upcoming 19th Asian Games has been declared by the Indian Cricket Board. The men’s cricket competition will be played in a T20 style from September 28 to October 8 as part of the Asian Games 2023, which will be held in China from September 23 to October 8. Ruturaj Gaikwad, a domestic cricket player for Maharashtra, will be in charge of the young Indian team. 

The young and talented cricketer from Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh will also be seen playing for the Indian team in the upcoming major tournament. Many fans were shocked recently when he wasn’t included in India’s T20I squad against West Indies as he performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. However, after his inclusion in the team, Rinku expressed his happiness and reshared a post of him from Kolkata Knight Rider in India’s T20I jersey with a ‘Nazar Amulet’ emoji.

No place for Shikhar Dhawan for Asian Games 2023

Just like any other tournament, this is also a major event but there is not a single senior player in the squad. However, the ODI World Cup 2023 will take place at the same time as the Asian Games, so all the senior players will be busy with that, including star players Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and others. As a result, the Asian Games will be played with a young team.

Interestingly, there were some reports revolving around veteran Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan leading the squad in the Asian Games. However, the Indian Cricket Board ended the speculations as Gaikwad will be seen as a captain. Despite the absence of senior players, the team is still looking strong and is expected to produce great performances in the tournament.
