Indian Cricket Board files plea against former sponsor over payment default

Cricket’s richest board the Indian Cricket Board has knocked on the door of India’s judiciary. As per the sources, Byju’s the former sponsor of the Indian Cricket team has defaulted on payments.

This now has created a new controversy as the Indian board is looking to recoup their money. The payment owed by the former sponsor runs into Crores and the matter has now become a legal case between the two parties.

Indian Cricket Board claims payment default from the former sponsor 

Byju’s which happens to be an e-learning APP has been taken to task by Indian Cricket Board. This is over the defaulted payment of INR 158 Crores that is still owed. As per news made public by Money Control. The case was first filed on the 8th of September before it got formally registered on the 25th of November.

The hearing on the matter was scheduled for the 28th of November. The next hearing is set to be on the 22nd of December after the Indian Cricket Board cited the payment issues on Monday.

As per a report doing the rounds on the NCLT website which read “It is stated that the General notice was issued to BYJU’s vide email dated 06.01.2023 and the default amount of Rs.158 crore. excluding TDS as reflected in”

Meanwhile, former India star Irfan Pathan isn’t happy with the split-captaincy model for the South Africa tour. The comments were made during an interaction with Star Sports India on the sidelines of the Legends League Cricket.

Irfan Pathan said “This could be a sign for the future, which I am not a big fan of. There has been talk for a long time about whether we can do split captaincy. Workload management has indeed been done here and that is why you are seeing such big squads and different captains”

The 39-year-old also said “It’s clear that Rohit Sharma had to take a break from white-ball cricket, so you aren’t seeing him there. You are seeing him as the captain of Test cricket. However, you might see these things going forward. You might even see different coaches for different formats. I believe it’s better if it doesn’t happen in our culture,”
