Indian Cricket Board announces action-packed home season of Men’s team for 2023-24

The Indian Cricket Board released an official statement on Tuesday to announce fixtures for India’s home season. The Indian team is set to face Australia, Afghanistan, and England in the upcoming home season, playing three ODIs, eight T20Is, and five Test matches. The home season will commence with a three-match ODI series against Australia.

The first match of the series will take place in Mohali on September 22. The other two matches of the series will take place in Indore on September 24 and in Rajkot on September 27. After the ODI World Cup, India will face Australia in a five-match T20I series starting on November 23 in Vizag. Other matches will be played at Trivandrum on November 26, Guwahati on November 28, Nagpur on December 1, and Hyderabad on December 3.

In the New Year, India will host Afghanistan for the first-ever limited-overs series. The team will play a three-match T20I series against them starting January 11. The first match will take place in Mohali on January 11. The other two games will be held in Indore on January 14 and Bengaluru on January 17. Notably, Afghanistan played their first-ever Test in 2019 against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru only.

England will tour India for a Test series

At the end of January 2024, England will tour India for a five-match Test series. India will host them in their first game at Hyderabad on January 25. Other matches of the series will be held at Vizag on February 2, Rajkot on February 15, Ranchi on February 23, and Dharamshala on March 7. Notably, this will be India’s first home Test series of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. It will also be England’s first tour of India under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.

It’s worth noting that India is currently second on the points table of the WTC 2023–25, as they have 16 points from two games against the West Indies. It will be interesting to see how India continues to strengthen its position in the ongoing prestigious tournament. With this schedule, India is also set to have at least 11 ODI games ahead of the World Cup in 2023.
