Malik took to X and confirmed the reason behind leaving BPL 2024. The former Pakistan cricketer claimed that he had a discussion with Tamim Iqbal, the skipper of Fortune, and said that the two had discussed the same a long time back. Shoaib added that he had to leave Bangladesh to take part in an already-planned media commitment in Dubai.

“Official statement; I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai,” wrote Malik on X. The star cricketer wished Barishal the best for the rest of their campaign.

The owner of the Bangladesh Premier League franchise Fortune Barishal’s owner Mizanur Rahman clarified the rumours about Malik’s exit and stated that match-fixing allegations on Shoaib were wrong. Rahman lauded Malik’s contribution to Fortune Barishal in the first three matches of the season.
