On the first day of the ongoing second Test between South Africa and India, the Asian team experienced an unthinkable collapse while batting. After the home team was bowled out for 55 runs, the visitors were in a comfortable position with 153/4 on the board. However, in the 34th over of the India innings, the team lost three wickets. In the next over, the team lost the same number of wickets.

In both overs, the team failed to add a single run to their lead. With a lead of 98, the team was bowled out, and the Proteas came out to bat for the second time in the day. Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri gave a gem of an explainer after India was bowled out for 153 from being 153/4 at one stage.

“If someone went around the corner for a dump, and has come back, India have been bowled out for 153,” the former India coach said.

In reply, the Proteas finished the day on 62/3, trailed by 36 runs. It looks like the Test match might end on Day Two. The wicket has been extremely difficult for batting. Talking about records, South Africa has been bowled out for the lowest Test score since readmission.

Apart from this, 23 wickets is the fifth-joint highest number of wickets in a day. In a Test match during the 1888 Ashes, 27 wickets fell in a day.
