India’s selectors sprung up at a huge surprise when they decided to select Dhruv Jurel for the England series. Team India will start the two-day unofficial Test series against England with the first game in Hyderabad and the next game in Visakhapatnam.

Ishan Kishan wasn’t picked despite media reports which stated that Rahul Dravid had opened the door for an eventual return. It is to be noted that Ishan Kishan had pulled out of the South African series.

Rohit Sharma will lead the side with Jasprit Bumrah being elected as the vice-captain. India will miss the services of Mohammed Shami, who is yet to recover from his injury. Prasidh Krishna is also missing out on action after making his debut in South Africa.

Dhruv Jurel’s family’s ultimate sacrifice –

Uttar Pradesh youngster Dhruv Jurel has been picked by the Indian Cricket selectors for the initial few games against England. The youngster has been giving strong performances both in the IPL and domestic season.

Rahul Dravid said that there was no problem with Ishan Kishan making a comeback to the side. The youngster was supposed to play the Indian domestic game but the 25-year-old gave it a miss.

Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill have been retained sorting the batting order for the first two games. Considering Dhruv Jurel is now part of the team it will be interesting to see if he makes his debut.

When Dhruv Jurel was young his family had issues with their monetary side which was a huge deterrent. It was at this point that Jurel’s mother decided to sell her jewels so that her son could get a new cricketing kit.

The sacrifices seemed to have paid off as the youngster was picked by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Last year the young man had shown his prowess with the bat with some match-winning knocks.

As the fans wait for India’s new wicketkeeper to make his way to the field, his family will be watching in glee. KS Bharat might be the wicketkeeper for the first two Tests and Jurel might have to wait for his turn. However, the Indian selectors have shown that not the IPL but domestic performances matter and will lead to an India berth. Ishan Kishan for one needs to watch this closely and pay good attention.

Here’s how the fans reacted –
