“Harbhajan Singh slams Nasser Hussain’s views over umpire’s call in DRS rule controversy
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has once again captured the cricketing world’s attention, this time through a series of tweets critiquing decisions made by the umpires during the ODI World Cup match between Pakistan and South Africa. Harbhajan expressed his disappointment when the umpire denied the final wicket to Pakistan due to which they lost the thrilling match against the Proteas.
The Men in Green decided to go upstairs to challenge the on-field umpire’s decision but the ball tracking revealed that it was the umpire’s call due to which the decision went in South Africa’s favour. Meanwhile, now, Harbhajan took the issue with former England skipper Nasser Hussain, who defended the use of technology and certain contentious decisions.
Harbhajan labelled some of the decisions as “nonsense” and questioned the interpretation of technology, notably the Umpire’s Call in the Decision Review System (DRS). The debate surrounding the accuracy and fairness of such decisions in cricket continues to be a topic of discussion within the cricketing community, with Harbhajan’s strong opinions adding fuel to the ongoing conversation.
“Bad umpiring and bad rules cost Pakistan this game. The apex cricket body should change this rule, if the ball is hitting the stump that’s out whether the umpire gave out or not out doesn’t matter.. otherwise what is the use of technology???” Harbhajan tweeted.
Don’t make people fool who love this game blindly: Harbhajan Singh
However, an irate Harbhajan vehemently criticised the video and former English cricketer, accusing him of being paid to advocate for DRS technology and undermine Virat Kohli‘s perspective.
“Paid to speak for tech to show tech is right. He is suggesting tech is right, @imVkohli isn’t, because tech must have paid the broadcaster to show how important is tech .. OK if the tech is right go with tech Why do u need umpires to stick to their own decisions? Utterly nonsense .. use 1 tech or umpire.. don’t make people fool who love this game blindly,” he tweeted.
