Former Pakistan cricketer pleads PM Narendra Modi and Indian Cricket Board to help him lift ban by England Cricket Board
Danish Kaneria has been in the news for several things in the recent past. The former Pakistan cricketer has a lot of followers on YouTube, who care about his opinions on different aspects, particularly about cricket. Whenever Kaneria says something, it becomes viral on social media, particularly in India and Pakistan, where the concentration of his followers is the highest.
In the past, Kaneria was a good player for Pakistan. In the 2000s, when some of the flattest wickets were rolled out, Kaneria was one of the main spinners of Pakistan in Test cricket and had a fair bit of success. For almost an entire decade, Kaneria was a part of Pakistan and played a crucial role in several wins of his team. Without Kaneria, Pakistan would not have won many Test matches.
But towards the early 2010s, Kaneria had a bad reputation. During Pakistan’s tour of England, the officials in England found out that Kaneria was involved in spot-fixing. It became a big blot on Kaneria’s career. Following it, the England cricket board had imposed a ban on the leg spinner. Since then, Kaneria could not play for Pakistan and Yasir Shah replaced him in Test cricket.

After 11 years, Kaneria has recalled about the incident. The former leg spinner has thought about talking about his ban. The former Pakistan cricketer recently appeared in an interview in Aaj Tak, an Indian news channel, where he pleaded to the Indian cricket board and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help him remove the ban from the England cricket board.
“I would like to appeal to Prime Minister Modi and the BCCI to help me remove the ban that was imposed on me by the ECB,” said Kaneria in the interview. The plead of Kaneria has now gone viral on the internet. While many feel that his ban must be lifted, others feel that it should not be lifted. Some others feel that lifting the ban (Or not) would not make much of a difference.
