Former Indian cricketer highlights Rohit Sharma’s spectacular comeback after 2011 World Cup exclusion
Indian team skipper Rohit Sharam has been leading the team very well in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. He has led the team to back-to-back 3 victories in the ongoing and the Men in Blue are rolling high with confidence. They will now face Pakistan on October 19 in Pune.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Amol Muzumdar recently talked about Rohit and heaped praise on him. He said that Rohit knows how to make strategies while keeping data and statistics in mind. Muzumdar also recalled how Rohit moved from Bandra to Borivali and hired a fitness trainer.
“Rohit gives a lot of weightage and importance to data and statistics. This includes one of the most important parts of his planning; he believes that it is very important to know each and every minute detail and statistics of all the opposition players. The second one is, that he keeps things very simple and tries to make his team members think simply. And, the third one, which is the most important point is that he has that magical touch in him.” Muzumdar was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
“Even I’m aware he moved back from Bandra to Borivali. And he also hired a fitness trainer, and that fitness trainer stayed at his house for 2-3 months. He concentrated a lot on his fitness and made his comeback from there on, and he’s not looked back since.” he added.
He took it positively and turned it around for himself: Amol Muzumdar
The former cricketer also shed light on how Rohit overcame the disappointment he faced when he was snubbed from India’s squad for the 2011 ODI World Cup. He said that when Rohit got to lead Mumbai Indians in the IPL, he had responsibilities on his shoulders.
“According to me, when he wasn’t selected in that 2011 World Cup where the team happened to go and win the tournament, that really upset him. After that, he’s just been excellent. When he got the captaincy (in IPL) later, it added responsibility on his shoulders, and he really matured. And he’s never looked back after that. That was one setback which he took positively and turned it around for himself.”
