Pakistan faced off against Australia in the 18th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20. Despite their valiant efforts, Pakistan fell short by 62 runs, chasing a massive target set by the Aussies. The match saw Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, facing criticism for his performance.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh took to social media to offer some advice to the young captain, comparing him to the prolific Virat Kohli. He suggested that Babar should learn from Kohli how to score runs in any situation and conditions. Harbhajan’s advice aimed to encourage Babar to develop his batting skills further.

“Kohli is a Modren days legend without a question. Scored runs in every situation and condition and won the game for India .. Babar and many others should learn from King Kohli baat khatam. Koi shak anyone?” Harbhajan Tweeted.

Poor all-round performance by Pakistan

Talking about the match, Australia posted a formidable total of 367 runs, the highest ever against Pakistan in a World Cup match, thanks to an exceptional 259-run partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Chasing the target, Pakistan started their innings on a positive note with their openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, forming a century partnership against Australia in a World Cup for the first time. However, Babar’s wicket, taken by Adam Zampa for just 18 runs, turned the tide in Australia’s favour.

Despite some flashes of brilliance from Iftikhar Ahmed, who played some aggressive shots, Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals. Zampa once again proved to be a villain for Pakistan’s side by dismissing both Iftikhar and Mohammad Rizwan in quick succession. Pakistan was ultimately bowled out for 305 runs in 45.3 overs, falling short of the target.

They had a strong start, but the inability to build substantial partnerships ultimately cost them the game. As the ODI World Cup 2023 continues, fans around the world are eager to see how Babar Azam and Pakistan rebound from this setback, and whether Harbhajan’s advice will help the young captain grow into a more formidable force on the cricket field.
