Seventeen, the latest emerging music brand in K-Pop, has replaced BTS for the first rank in music branding. For the first time in the last 5 years, BTS has fallen in the rankings, which is a huge feat, considering how BTS has been dominant in music branding in the last 4-5 years. Their most famous single, ‘Dynamite’ was a phenomenon when it was released a few years back.

In the monthly brand reputation ranking survey taken out by the Korea Brand Reputation Research Institute, BTS was in the number one spot for over 67 months. For the first time in more than 5 years, SEVENTEEN has managed to dethrone BTS. Many are wondering if SEVENTEEN are the new brand in the making in K-Pop and are worrying about the music band BTS.

BTS consisting of artists like Jimin, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, RM, Jungkook, and V, have managed to be at the top of the monthly rankings for about 5 and a half years. But SEVENTEEN has seen a huge surge in popularity as they have sold a lot of albums in the last few months. However, the rankings have seen another surprising entry which has made things worse for BTS.

Fall of BTS in the making?

Along with SEVENTEEN, another music brand named NCT has raised above the rank, which now ranks at 2nd in the brand survey. BTS is currently ranked third in the branding. It has made the fans wonder if BTS is facing a huge decline in the brand rankings. Other K-pop brands are emerging at the top and BTS might be worried about their audience and the hold they had on them.

To follow BTS in the branding for the month of December 2023 are the music brands like RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, THE BOYZ, Stray Kids, EXO, SHINee, ASTRO, ATEEZ, Super Junior, TVXQ, BTOB, and BOYNEXTDOOR. From January to November 2023, the Pledis Entertainment boy band had sold over 10 million copies of albums. Since December 2023, there has been a reported decline in 47% of the brand points of BTS.
