His works like Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju were all loved by the audience. Some of them became path-breaking and sensational hits at the box office.

However the audience thinks that Dunki might be his first failure as a director. There are strong opinions that Hirani has failed for the first time as a director. While many were happy about the collaboration between Shah Rukh and Hirani, which was almost like a combo for ages, many were disappointed after watching the movie. The makers would hope for better word of mouth from here for the sake of the movie.
