Find out why Jasprit Bumrah gets rested for 2nd ODI against Australia in Indore
India and Australia are clashing against each other in the 2nd match of the 3-match ODI series at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 24. The Men in Blue are already ahead in the series 1-0 as they won the first match in Mohali by 5 wickets which was also a historic win as India defeated Australia in Mohali after a gap of 27 years.
Meanwhile, India’s premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah is missing the 2nd ODI and Mukesh Kumar has been made his replacement. The right-handed pacer recently became a father when his wife Sanjana Ganesan gave birth to their son ‘Angad’. The Indian Cricket Board has given him a short break before the ODI World Cup to spend some time with his family.
Mukesh joined the team but didn’t get a place in the squad as Prasidh Krishna, who was vying for a spot team, finally got a chance and is included in the squad for the 2nd ODI. However, it’d be interesting to see if will be as effective as Bumrah was in the 1st ODI or not.
A good challenge to put a big total on the board: KL Rahul
Talking about the match, Australian skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first. India’s captain also said that they would have bowled first as well as it will be challenging to put up a big total on this pitch. He also revealed that Bumrah is rested for the match and Krishna came in his place.
“We would have bowled first as well considering the size of the ground. Good wicket, and a good challenge to put a big total on the board. 5-6 of our main guys have been rested. It’s important for guys like me and others coming back from injury to get some game time. We only have one change from the last game.
Jasprit is rested, and Prasidh Krishna comes in. Good for the middle-order to be tested, we’ve been challenged even in the Asia Cup. Good for all our batters to spend some time in the middle. That’ll give us a lot of confidence going into the big tournament.” Rahul said during the toss.
