Fateh Box Office Collection Day 2: Sonu Sood’s Directorial Sees a Decline

Sonu Sood’s much-anticipated directorial debut, Fateh, opened to a promising ₹2.4 crore on Friday. However, the momentum seems to have slowed, with collections dipping to ₹2 crore on its first Saturday, as reported by Sacnilk. This decline bucks the typical trend where films see a weekend surge in box office numbers.

A Sudden Dip in Numbers

The action entertainer faced challenges as ticket prices were revised after Friday’s special ₹99 pricing. While the strategy worked on the opening day, the regular weekend rates seem to have discouraged some viewers. The film also faces stiff competition from Game Changer, the Hindi-dubbed version of the Telugu blockbuster starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.

Reviews and Audience Reception

Fateh received mixed reviews, which may have impacted its Saturday numbers. Critics have praised Sonu Sood’s effort as a director but noted that the film’s screenplay, co-written by Sood and Ankur Pannu, doesn’t offer much innovation. Hindustan Times mentioned, “Sood handles the direction well, but the screenplay lacks originality. The action sequences, while slick, lose their shock value as the film progresses.”

Sonu Sood’s Vision and Intent

Sonu Sood’s goal with Fateh was to bring attention to the rising issue of cybercrime. The film is inspired by real-life incidents of digital scams during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sood, who also stars in the film alongside Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah, stated in a promotional video, “Fateh is a film made for the common man. I want it to reach audiences across India. I will be donating the entire profit from the film to charity as my way of giving back.”

Competition and Challenges

Despite its socially conscious message, Fateh faces tough competition. Game Changer, with its big-budget production and star-studded cast, has drawn larger crowds. Furthermore, some viewers felt the film’s approach to cybercrime awareness lacked depth, potentially limiting its appeal.

What Lies Ahead?

As Fateh enters its first Sunday, it remains to be seen whether it can regain momentum. With a mix of action, drama, and a noble cause at its core, the film still has a chance to connect with audiences.

Whether Fateh can rise above its challenges and deliver strong box office results remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on Sonu Sood’s directorial debut? Let us know!
