‘Dekh-Dekh aise khelte hein minnows ko’ – Fans react as India thrash Nepal by 10 wicket to qualify for Super Four of Asia Cup 2023
In the must-win game for India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, they played against Nepal in Pallekele. Ahead of the game, it was said that the match would be impacted by the rain. As it turned out, the weather gods didn’t play any games and did what was expected of them. Meanwhile, in the game, the seven-time winners won the toss and elected to field first.
They were looking to have bowlers having overs under their belt. Notably, this cause was also helped by the Indian fielders dropping three catches inside the powerplay. This led to Nepal openers, Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh putting together 65 runs in just 9.5 overs. In the end, Shardul Thakur proved to be the partnership breaker as he took the wicket of the former.
After this, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets from over number 16 to 22. The likes of Bhim Sharki, skipper Rohit Paudel, and Kushal Malla fell to Jadeja. The Champions Trophy 2013 winner ended with the same number of wickets. Sheikh (58) became the first Nepal player to score a fifty against India. Meanwhile, at one stage, they were reduced to 144/6.
At this stage, the likes of Sompal Kami (48) and Dipendra Singh Airee (29) put together 50 runs for the seventh wicket. In the end, the debutants ended up getting 230 all-out in 48.2 overs. Despite India not giving their 100 percent on the field, they did manage to achieve their mini-goal that was discussed above. Mohammed Siraj also took three wickets in the game.
India brushed aside Nepal in the rain-truncated game
In reply, the former champions had a great start as they scored 17/0 in 2.1 overs. However, the long rain break meant that the game forced the game to be reduced to a 23-over affair. As India didn’t lose any wickets before the DLS came in, they were asked to chase down 145 runs. The likes of India openers, Rohit Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (67) helped the team chase down the target in just 20.1 overs.

Fifty plus scores by both our openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Even though it came against Nepal, it surely gives them some confidence before the next game vs Pakistan. #INDvNEP pic.twitter.com/WJ8Ffbfidq

Again Virat Kohli will come to bat straight against Pakistan on sunday without any game time and in another hand rain making worse both mentally and physically everyday. Feels like preparation for world cup is not effective 😓#INDvNEP #ViratKohli𓃵 pic.twitter.com/vGdQF4G45U
