The ongoing third Test between Australia and Pakistan has seen the game shifting directions on the third day of the game. Ahead of the evening session, the home team was going well at 289/5 and looked like getting past Pakistan’s 313 all-out. However, ahead of the Tea Break, Sajid Khan took the wicket of Alex Carey. In the next session, the World Test Championship winners were bowled out for 299.

Aamer Jamal took a fifer and helped the Asian side took a lead of 14 runs. They looked like finishing strongly at the end of Day Three. However, from 58/2, the team has been reduced to 68/7 at stumps, leading by only 82 runs. Saim Ayub (33) was trapped lbw by Nathan Lyon before former skipper Babar Azam was caught behind off Travis Head.

In the second last over of the day, Josh Hazlewood came to bowl in search of wickets. He started the over with the wicket of Saud Shakeel. The latter tried to play a flashing drive away from his body and was caught at slips. Nightwatchman Sajid Khan survived or only two balls before being cleaned up.

Two Balls later, Salman Agha was caught at slips to complete a three-wicket maiden, something that was done by Lungi Ngidi against India in Cape Town but the Proteas lost the game.

I was trying to avoid eye contact from Pat Cummins: Josh Hazlewood

After the day’s play, the three-time World Cup winner revealed that he wasn’t supposed to bowl the second last over of the day.

“Originally I was trying to avoid eye contact with the skipper being 10 to 6 on day three. I thought Heady was going well. I think with Shakeel I’ve had good luck against him so far. Then I attacked the stumps [for Sajid] and was lucky to sneak one through. Wobble seam seems to be getting the most out of this wicket so just continued with that,” Josh Hazlewood told Fox.
