Pakistan are playing their 7th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 31. The Bangla Tigers’ prospects of reaching the knockout stage are dwindling, while for Pakistan, this match is make or break. A victory will maintain their tournament hopes, but a loss will significantly diminish their chances.

Meanwhile, in a must-win match, the Men in Green entered the ground without their star and most dependable allrounder Shadab Khan. He endured a head injury in Pakistan’s last match in the tournament against South Africa in Chennai. He encountered the problem while fielding during South Africa’s chase at on the last Friday (October 27). Following medical advice, he was unable to continue participating in the rest of the match.

The Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement in which they revealed that the choice to sideline Shadab in the match against the Bangla Tigers was made based on the recommendation of the medical staff and Pakistan’s team physio. This decision came after they documented it as the third occasion in the last two years where the cricketer sustained a head injury.

“Shadab Khan suffered a concussion in Pakistan’s match vs South Africa. After a thorough assessment, the medical panel had no choice but to rule him out of the match against Bangladesh. This was Shadab’s third concussion since September last year.” PCB was quoted as saying Cricket One.

He will continue to be assessed over the coming days: PCB

The PCB recalled the two times when Shadab sustained head injuries. His injury history includes a collision with his Sussex teammate during the Vitality T20 Blast in May and a head-on collision with Asif Ali’s elbow during the Asia Cup final last year in Dubai.

He had a collision with his Sussex teammate while fielding in the Vitality T20 Blast in May this year and previously during the Asia Cup final last year in Dubai when his head crashed into Asif Ali’s elbow while fielding.
