BREAKING: India announce their squad for ODI World Cup 2023

A month ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, India has announced their squad for the tournament. The announcement came on the last day of the preliminary squad announcement deadline. For the unversed, the Apex Council had given the participating teams till September 5 to announce their preliminary squad. Even if the selectors have to make any changes, they will have till September 28 to do so.

Ahead of the announcement, most of the players had already selected themselves. Players such as skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, former skipper Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav were pretty much sure shot to make it to the side.

Some of the players who are either waiting for 100 percent or are uncertain about their place in the side were thought about. If the changes are made in the squad, they will be made on the back of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 performances. The seven-time Asia Cup winners have qualified for the Super Four round as they beat Nepal by 10 wickets on September 4. Their game against Pakistan was washed out after the first innings.

KL Rahul included in the India squad

The right-hander is yet to play a game after the IPL 2023. During the tournament, he got injured and is yet to play the game. He was ruled out of the first round of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Apparently, the Lucknow Super Giants skipper had a niggle which is why he stayed in his hometown, Bangalore.

He has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the capital city of Karnataka. He is expected to join the team ahead of the Super Four round starting on September 6.
