Box Office Collection Day 1: Kangana Ranaut starrer Chandramukhi 2 stands strong opposite SRK’s Jawan

It’s ‘Filmy Friday’ again, and some of the most awaited Hindi films have finally hit the theatres. On September 7th, Bollywood’s King Khan Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan hit the theatres worldwide. Since then, the movie has been dominating the box office. Jawan has been creating some unbreakable box office records since day one of its release.

However, it seems Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has not affected the recently released Kangana Ranaut‘s Chandramukhi 2. For the unversed, the second instalment of the blockbuster original South film Chandramukhi has finally been released. On 29th September 2023, Kangana Ranaut and Raghav Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2 were released on the big screens.

The film is helmed by the ace filmmaker P Vasu. In 2005, Chandramukhi had created a havoc at the box office. The film was a blockbuster and the audience had declared it to be an iconic film. Later, Bollywood got inspired by the movie and dropped Bhool Bhulaiyaa starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan.

The Jawan mania is currently running strong at the theatres. Regardless, Kangana Ranaut and Raghav Lawrence’s Chandramkukhi 2 minted Rs 7.5 crore at the Indian box office. This number is a cumulative amount of all the languages that the film was released in. Let us tell you, it is a decent number considering all the factors in store.

Along with Chandramukhi 2, two other most-awaited Hindi films were released in the theatres. Fukrey 3 and The Vaccine War are also here to shake Jawan from its throne at the box office. As per early estimates in Sacnilk, Jawan earned about Rs 5.50 crores on Thursday.

This makes Chandramukhi 2 fourth-highest opener in Kangana Ranaut’s entire career. Kangana’s Shootout at Wadala tops the chart of her career’s biggest opener as the film had minted Rs 10.1 crore on day 1. Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi are at number 2 and 3 with business of Rs 8.85 crore and 7.75 crores, respectively. Chandramukhi 2 is placed fourth with Rs 7.5 crore.

Well, it will be interesting to see how long Chandramukhi 2 could hold against the storm created by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. A statement from the actress is also eagerly awaited by her fans.
