‘Bowlers ki class leli Klaasen ne’ – Fans react as Heinrich Klaasen smashes 109 runs off just 67 balls against England in ODI World Cup 2023 clash
South Africa’s star wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen stunned the cricketing world as he blazed his way to a breathtaking 109 runs off a mere 67 balls against England in the 20th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, October 21. Klaasen’s scintillating performance left fans in awe and set social media abuzz with excitement.
The right-handed batters’s aggressive stroke play and impeccable timing displayed the essence of modern-day cricket. He smashed the English bowlers to all corners of the ground, hitting 12 boundaries and 4 massive sixes. Klaasen didn’t just hit his 4th ODI century but his innings powered South Africa to a formidable total.
The social media was flooded with posts, tweets, and memes lauding Klaasen’s sensational knock. Cricket fans, both in the stadium and glued to their screens, were treated to an exhibition of superb batting skills. Klaasen’s masterclass left a lasting impact on the cricketing world and is sure to be remembered as one of the standout moments of the ODI World Cup 2023.
Brilliant batting performance by South Africa
Talking about South Africa’s batting innings, they lost Quinton de Kock in the very first over but Reeza Hendricks who was playing his first match of the tournament, built a 121-run stand with Rassie van der Dussen for the 2nd wicket. However, later, Adil Rashid got rid of both the batters. Van der Dussen departed after scoring 60 runs while Hendricks scored 85 runs.
South Africa suffered a slight wobble when both Aiden Markram and David Miller went in quick succession. Still, 13.3 overs were left when Miller went. Klaasen battled everything with his body as he got his 100 and Marco Jansen got his highest ODI score. Just when England were looking to come back into the game, the Klaasen-Jansen stand put paid to that. Both stitched a massive 151-run stand for the 6th wicket and helped South Africa to put a monumental total of 399 runs on the scoreboard.
