Bollywood actor Kunal Khemu visits Melbourne Cricket Ground with Soha Ali Khan

In the last week of the calendar year 2023, Melbourne Cricket Ground, nicknamed as ‘G’ saw unusual visitors. They were Soha Ali Khan, alongside her husband and Bollywood actor Kunal Khemu and their child. Khan also appeared in a few Bollywood movies and hosted a quiz show a few years back. Meanwhile, the couple decided to visit the iconic ground in Australia.

For the unversed, Khan’s father (Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi) and grandfather (Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi) played the game at the highest level. Iftikhar was a double international player as he played for England and India during his six-match Test career. In 1929, he made his debut for the Three Lions and played his last as captain of India three years later.

During his playing career from 1928 to 1946, he played for Southern Punjab at the domestic level before the partition a year later. His son and Soha’s father Mansur played 46 Tests and led the team to a famous Test series victory in New Zealand in 1968. In the four-match series, the Asian side won by 3-1. This was India’s maiden overseas series victory. He played for most of his career with partial blindness.

His son and Soha’s brother, Saif Ali Khan went on to become one of the most successful actors of Bollywood. On the other hand, Soha’s career didn’t take off despite doing some good films. The same has been the case with Khemu too. His last film, Pop Kaun turned out to be a disaster.
