CEAT Limited, India’s leading tyre manufacturer, recently honoured some of the top cricketers at the CEAT Cricket Awards ceremony in Mumbai. Regarded as the ‘King of Swing’, senior India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged the T20 Bowler of the Year award for his outstanding performance in 2022. The highlight of the event was the young batting sensation Shubman Gill who won two prestigious awards – ‘ODI Batter of the Year’ and ‘International Cricketer of the Year’.

Kumar was a key member of Team India in all formats of the game. But due to an injury in 2018, he was sidelined from the Test squad and never managed to return to the squad. The 33-year-old, meanwhile, is currently out-of-favour as he has been dropped from the ODI and T20 teams as well. He last donned the blue jersey in November 2022 during a T20I against New Zealand. The right-arm seamer is also not in the plans for the 2023 Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

Apart from Kumar and Gill, Suryakumar Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were also honoured at the award ceremony. The World No. 1 T20 batter claimed the title of the CEAT Best T20 batsman, while Chahal was honoured for becoming the first Indian bowler to take 300 T20 wickets. The remarkable achievements of women cricketers Deepti Sharma (Women’s International Cricketer of the Year) and Shafali Verma (honoured as U-19 Women’s World Cup Winning Captain) were also recognised.
