‘Bhai bahut hua, chup ho ja’ – Fans slam Pakistani journalist for taking dig at IPL after Pakistan A’s Emerging Asia Cup triumph over India A

On 23 July 2023, Pakistan A registered a massive 128-run victory over India A in the final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka. But, after the loss, many Team India fans were seen pointing out the players of Pakistan and their total experience of playing international matches. 

Notably, there were several players in the Pakistan line-up who had experience of playing international matches. While there was not a single player in the Men in Blue’s camp who had made his debut for the senior side. Although, maximum players like skipper Yash Dhull, Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and many others had a lot of IPL experiences. Regarding that, a famous Pakistan journalist, Farid Khan came up with a tweet to take a dig at IPL.

Speaking of the tweet. He wrote: “Aray emerging ka matlab samjhaun? Ya aik kaam karo apna 2018 ka Emerging Asia Cup squad nikal ke captain check kro. Balkay Riyan Parag aur Abhishek Sharma ke combined 100 IPL matches ka experience. IPL ko international bolte ho na? IPL talent kahan gaya? #EmergingAsiaCup2023.” Seeing that, fans came up and slammed him brutally on social media. Speaking of the match, Pakistan A batted first and scored 352 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs.

In reply, India A got bundled out for just 224 runs in 40 overs. Tayyab Tahir won the Player of the Match award for scoring 108 runs off 71 balls. After the match, India A skipper, Yash Dhull said: “They batted very well, we controlled it well in the middle, but they batted well. It was a big target but we played some poor shots. The decision was okay, but they batted well and the wicket was also fresh. We played some bad shots [at three wickets down] and went down from there. None of us have played international cricket so it was a good platform for us to play and a good environment.”
