Manoj Tiwary announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 3 August as he came up with a post on his social media platforms. He thanked his teammates, wife, and the associated delegates of Boards during his illustrative career, especially in the domestic arena. But, on 8 August 2023, RevSportz reported that the veteran batter is all set to take back his retirement and resume playing.

Seeing such an update just after five days, fans went crazy and slammed him brutally on social media. Speaking of his career, he played 12 ODIs and accumulated 287 runs, including a century and a fifty. In the shortest format of the game, Manoj played three T20Is for Team India and scored just 15 runs. Currently, he is the Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports of West Bengal.

Manoj Tiwary last played in IPL in 2018

In IPL also, Manoj Tiwary played for several years for several franchises like Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, and Punjab. In the 2012 IPL final, he hit the winning run for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Manoj last played in IPL in 2018. In a total of 96 IPL matches, he scored 1686 runs, at an average of 29.07 with a strike rate of 117.41. He smashed seven fifties. According to recent reports, he had a discussion with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, Snehasish Ganguly and after that, due to a request from CAB, he is now taking back the retirement. 

Manoj is also reportedly looking to announce his decision officially later in a press conference on 8 August. As per sources, Manoj led the Bengal team to the Ranji Trophy final last year as they finished as the runners-up. So, if his departure would create a massive void and thus, the Board had a discussion and influenced him to reconsider his decision. Manoj Tiwary has played 141 First Class matches so far and scored 9908 runs, including 29 centuries and 45 fifties.
