‘Bazball ko uski aukaat dikhadi’ – Fans react as India end 1st day of 2nd Test with score of 336/6, courtesy Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 179

India end the 1st day of the 2nd Test on a high against England. The home side was carried by the young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was brilliant with the bat in his stay in the middle. The day undoubtedly belonged to him, in turn helping India to have a slight lead in the match. 

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. The wicket had a little seam on offer. James Anderson was brilliant in his spell and got the ball to move away after pitching. At the other end, the spinners operated and managed to chip in with constant wickets. 

It was Jaiswal’s show all the way, as he played a brilliant knock. It was near flawless innings from the opener who played some lovely shots in the middle. At the other end, wickets kept on falling on a consistent basis. Rohit was undone by debutant Shoaib Bashir for just 14 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal stars for India on first day 

Shubman Gill played a sweet little cameo. He scored 34 runs and perished. To follow him was Shreyas Iyer who scored 27 runs and was undone by Tom Hartley. Rajat Patidar was impressive on his debut. The right-handed batter was compact in his defense and looked good. 

The debutant was good till he stayed in the middle. After his dismissal, Axar Patel played a fine cameo. The Southpaw scored 27 runs. KS Bharat played some shots before perishing. Ravichandran Ashwin joined Jaiswal and saw India without losing another wicket at the end of the day. With a lot happening at the other end, Jaiswal stood tall like a wall. 

The Southpaw targeted the square region and hit a lot of runs on the off-side. His lofted shots over the extra cover region were treat to eyes. Jaiswal scored 179 runs at the end of the day and would be hoping to play a much longer innings. His knock has helped India to end the 1st day of the 2nd Test with a score of 336/6.
