Pakistan skipper Babar Azam hasn’t had the greatest time as captain in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Started the tournament with two wins (against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka), but the team went down badly. They went on to lose against India, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa and were in trouble of being knocked out of the tournament.

Against the likes of Bangladesh, New Zealand, and England, they needed to win by big margins against these teams. Apart from this, they needed other results to go their way. One of them was Sri Lanka winning against New Zealand or the game get washed out. However, the Blackcaps not only won the game but by a massive margin. With this, the Green Brigade’s scenario to qualify for the semis became next to impossible.

Apparently, they need to either win by 287 or chase the target in just 16 balls. Now, the 1992 World Cup winners’ chances of playing the semis are slim. Meanwhile, as reported by Geo Super News, the 2017 Champions Trophy winner might step down from the captaincy job.

It’s easy to give advice on TV: Babar Azam

Ahead of the Pakistan vs England game, a journalist asked the Pakistan skipper whether he can play the same role as former India skipper Virat Kohli. In reply, the Lahore-based player said that it’s easy to give advice on the television.

“Everyone has their own point of view, their own way of thinking. Everyone is saying something different. He should be like this, or like that. If someone has to give me advice, everyone has my number. It is easy to give advice on TV. If you want to give me some advice, you can message me.”
