‘Attitude problem bhai aur kuch nahi’ – Fans react as Nitish Rana wishes to change his domestic base from Delhi

Nitish Rana has the reputation of being a consistent performer for Delhi over the years. The 29-year-old represented the team for a long time. In First class cricket, Rana scored over 2000 runs for Delhi. In List A, Rana scored over 2000 runs for the team. Even in T20 cricket, Rana struck well for Delhi. The reputation of Rana is that of a good middle-overs striker in the shorter format.  

In the Indian Premier League, Rana has been a mainstay for a long time. In the 2017 season, Rana played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians becoming the champions for the third time in the history of IPL. Since 2018, Southpaw has been associated with Kolkata Knight Riders. More often than not, Rana has been a silent performer for the franchise from Kolkata.   

In 2023, Rana was named the captain of KKR in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. While KKR did not have a great season, Rana did not have a great time either as a captain. In his maiden stint as an IPL captain, Rana was criticized for many decisions in the season. Rana also played 2 T20Is and an ODI for India against Sri Lanka in 2021, which did not go well for him.

Rana was dropped from the Delhi team in the last season due to a lack of performances in the long format. Reportedly, Rana was upset with the decision. Adding it to the fact that a young batter like Yash Dhull who has played just a single season in seniors’ domestic cricket till now did not go well with Rana. For the above-mentioned reasons, Rana is unhappy with Delhi cricket.   

Along with Rana, even Dhruv Shorey is unhappy with the Delhi cricket association, who deemed him a Test batter. Shorey was the fourth-highest run scorer in the last Ranji season. The two batters from Delhi have asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi cricket association to change their bases. It is to be seen which team the two will play.
