Asia Cup 2023: Will ‘Pakistan’ be written on India’s jersey for first time in history?

The upcoming major cricket event Asia Cup 2023 is all set to be kicked off on August 30. The tournament opener will be played between the designated host Pakistan and Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Pakistan will sever as the co-host with Sri Lanka for the tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan were the lone hosts but the Indian Cricket Board refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan after which PCB came up with a hybrid model to co-host the tournament with Sri Lanka. India will play its all matches in Sri Lanka while the other teams, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan will be playing their matches in both Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, a rumour has been circulating on social media in which it is being said that the Indian team will have Pakistan written on their Asia Cup jersey. However, the news is fake as the name ‘Pakistan’ will be written in small letters beneath the ‘Asia Cup’ logo which is very common.

When Pakistan will come to India for the upcoming ODI World Cup, they will also don a jersey in which the name ‘India’ will be written beneath the ‘World Cup’ logo for every team. There are many instances when fans on social media fail to comprehend the reality behind such fake news.

Meanwhile, talking about the much-awaited clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan which will take place on September 2 at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka. Both teams last faced each other in an ODI match in the 2019 World Cup in England where the Indian team convincingly won the match by 89 runs.

PCB has already announced their 17-member squad for the Asia Cup while the Indian Cricket Board are yet to make the announcement. The Indian team management are probably waiting for the upcoming India tour of Ireland after which they will get clearance about their premium fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and whether he will be fit enough to play in the tournament or not.
