1992 World Cup winner calls Pakistan ‘favorites’ for ODI World Cup 2022 game against India
In the 12th game of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Ahead of the game, the Men In Blue have a 100 percent win record against Pakistan in the showpiece events over the years. For the first time in 1992, both teams played each other. Since then, India has won every game against Pakistan in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, and 2019.
This year, once again, both teams will be in action in two months’ time. Babar Azam-led side will look to register their first win against India in ODI World Cup. They did it in the T20 World Cup in the year 2021. Meanwhile, the 1992 World Cup winner Aaqib Javed has called his national side favorites against India.
“I think Pakistan side is balanced and the age graph of players is much better, India are on that stage where they have big names but their fitness and form is not up to the mark. They will struggle and might have to find new players to form a combination. I think Pakistan have a great chance of beating India in India,” Javed was quoted as saying by Cricwick.
Notably, the India and Pakistan game has been rescheduled. At first, the game was scheduled on October 15. However, the Gujarat Police had a word with the Indian Cricket Board and told them that it will be a security issue for the police as it will be the first day of the nine-day festival (Navratri). This led to the game being shifted a day early.
