‘Aisi bowling hogi toh baccha bhi chhakke marega’ – Fans react as Rithik Easwaran smashes 39 runs off just 11 balls against Dindigul Dragons in TNPL 2023 Qualifier 2

Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) continues to entertain cricket fans in India these days. However, all limits of explosive batting were crossed in the Qualifier-2 match played on Monday. In the Qualifier-2 match of TNPL played between Nellai Royal Kings and Dindigul Dragons on Monday, two batters wreaked havoc with their stormy batting.

Meanwhile, during the 2nd innings, the Royal Kings were on the verge of defeat but the 21-year-old youngster Rithik Easwaran came to bat at no. 5 and turned the match in his team’s favour. He smashed 39 runs off just 11 balls which included 6 sixes and helped the team to reach the finals. Easwaran talked about his knock in the post-match conference.

I am out of breath right now but happy to go to the final. We had a short boundary. The first two balls clicked and then we went on from there (referring to the 19th over). Just use your brain over brawn (mid-innings talk). It has been a team effort, in every match someone has stepped up and done it for the team. It was an instinctive moment (going for three sixes).

Brilliant batting performance by the Royal Kings

Batting first in this match, Dragons scored 185 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs and gave Royal Kings a target of 186 runs to win. Chasing the target, the Royal Kings were almost close to losing the match as at one point they were 149 for 3 after 18 overs and needed 37 runs in 2 overs to win from here.

After this, something happened in the 19th over which no one would have thought. The 19th over proved to be the biggest turning point for both teams. In the 19th over, Easwaran and Ajitesh Guruswamy (G Ajitesh) together scored 33 runs and gave their team a 7-wicket win. 6,6,6,1,6, N1,6 runs came in the 19th over of Nellai Royal Kings’ innings. The Royal Kings will now face Lyca Kovai Kings on Wednesday, July 12.
