The final Test of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series is set to be played at the Kennington Oval in London on Thursday, July 27. Australia have already retained the Ashes as the 4th Test ended up in a draw after the 5th day of the match got washed out due to rain. The Kangaroos are currently ahead in the series with a lead of 2-1 over the English team.

Meanwhile, England veteran Test bowler James Anderson recently opened up his retirement plans. Anderson said that he is currently not thinking about getting retired. Anderson believes that if his pace gets down or he becomes a horrible fielder then he might think about retirement.

“There are no thoughts about retirement. If I was bowling horrendously, with my pace down and hobbling around in the field I might be thinking differently. But the hunger is still there. I feel like I’m bowling well, that I can still offer something to the team. I felt like I bowled well at Old Trafford and if I get another chance this week, I will just keep trying the same stuff and hope my luck changes.” Anderson was quoted as saying by India Today.

There are always one or two players who have a lean series: James Anderson

Anderson isn’t having a great Ashes 2023 series as he has taken only 3 wickets in the series so far. He was also rested for the 3rd Test after his below-par performance in the first two tests, however, he called back for the 4th Test and is now set to play the 5th Test as well. He talked about his performance in the series so far.

“It is just one of those things. There are always one or two players who have a lean series. It can be a batter who gets good balls and then a bit of bad luck. It felt like that was my week in Manchester. I felt like I beat the bat plenty of times but just didn’t take the wickets that you want as a bowler to help the team win.” he added.
