‘Aapne mere man ki baat kehdi’ – Fans react as Wasim Jaffer suggests a major change in Indian lineup for second Test against England
Wasim Jaffer has a huge chance for India in the 2nd Test against England. The former Indian batter claimed that Rohit Sharma must be selfless and vacate his opening position. Jaffer felt that Rohit must bat a position lower to accommodate Shubman Gill in the position. Jaffer felt that Gill and Yashasvi must open for India in the 2nd Test against England.
“Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal should open, and Rohit Sharma should bat at no.3 in 2nd test in my opinion,” wrote Jaffer on X. Wasim was of the opinion that a change in position has not worked for the youngster. He added that instead of forcing a youngster to bat out of position, Rohit must bat in a different position himself taking the responsibility of a skipper.
Wasim thought that Gill could succeed in the team as an opener. At number 3, Gill has not been able to perform well for India. At the position, the star batter has not been able to register even a single score of fifty. It has led to the opinion of the former Indian cricketer. “Waiting to bat for his turn isn’t helping Shubman, it’s better he opens the inn.” Wasim further wrote.
‘Rohit plays spin really well’ – Wasim Jaffer
The former India opener claimed Rohit to be a good player of spin. He hence added that there would not be much problem if the Indian captain ended up batting a position lower. “Rohit Sharma plays spin well, so batting at no.3 should not worry him too much. #INDvENG,” wrote Jaffer on X. The opinion of Wasim has received mixed opinions from the fans.
India will be looking hungry to play the 2nd Test at Vizag, given the close loss against England in the 1st Test. India will also be without the services of a star player like Ravindra Jadeja. There are concerns over his replacement in the playing XI during the 2nd Test. It is to be seen how the home side would address the latest issue.
Check out the reactions of fans to Wasim Jaffer’s opinion:
Why should we backup Shubman Gill anymore? Do we have no other players in first class cricket? What is the use of Ranji, and other domestic tournaments?

Why to change openers when you have Rajat Patidar who can replace Shubman Gill and play at No. 3#INDvsENG pic.twitter.com/Yr8bqtxtnC

Move the guy who played well in a position to another so that both can underperform next time. Has @MichaelVaughan been giving you ideas? 😀😀

Let Sarfraz get a chance instead of Gill.

Ideally Shubman should bat at no. 12 in tests…

Sooner rather than later we need to let go of one of these IPL yoddhas from Test cricket.
