“99 percent he will….” – Rohit Sharma gives major update on Shubman Gill’s availability for India vs Pakistan WC match

India skipper Rohit Sharma has confirmed that Shubman Gill is mostly available for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 against Pakistan. In the last week or so, the latter has been down with Dengue fever. This led to him missing matches against Australia and Afghanistan. In the right-hander’s place, Ishan Kishan opened the batting and managed 47 runs. Meanwhile, ahead of the big game, Sharma said that the final decision will taken on October 14.

“99 percent he (Gill) is available,” Rohit said.

“We’ll see tomorrow (Saturday) about that.”

Rohit Sharma tight-lipped about Ravichandran Ashwin

With Gill potentially making a comeback, Kishan might make way. Apart from this, the team has to think about leaving out a player either Ravichandran Ashwin or Shardul Thakur.

“I don’t know, honestly. I don’t know,” Rohit claimed.

“I still haven’t looked at the pitch yet, but we are ready for whatever combination we want to play.

“That’s the challenge going forward for us as a team, depending on what kind of conditions we play in.

“If there is a change or two, we need to make, we will be ready with that. And the guys have been informed very well in advance about these kind of changes.

“So, I don’t think it’s going to be any issues with the players. But if the requirement is there for us to play three spinners, we will play three spinners.”

India has won seven out of as many games in the ODI World Cup. While the Men In Blue will look to keep the tradition going, the Green Brigade would like to spoil the party, like they did in the T20 World Cup 2021.
