The Indian cricket team are back in action for the 2nd Test of the 2-match Test series against West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on Thursday, July 20. India won the first match of the series by 1 innings and 141 runs, which helped them to take a 1-0 lead over the Caribbeans.

Coming back to the 2nd Test, West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. But their decision proved wrong as opener Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal continued their brilliant form and stitched a 139-run stand for the first wicket. Both got their half-centuries in the first session and Windies went wicketless.

However, the Caribbean side fought back really well in the second session as Jason Holder produced the first breakthrough in the 32nd over by dismissing Jaiswal at a score of 57 runs. Rohit continued to score runs from one end, but Shubman Gill, who came to bat at no. 3, went back to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs.

A brilliant partnership between Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja

Virat Kohli came to bat next and it was expected that both Rohit and Virat will now put up a strong partnership before the 2nd session ended, but that didn’t happen as Rohit was removed by a beautiful delivery by Jomel Warrican in the 39th over for 80 runs, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Kohli was joined by India’s star allrounder Jadeja after tea. And the duo ran hard, got crucial fours in between and stitched a fine partnership at a very decent rate. Kohli is just 13 runs away from his 29th Test century, while Jadeja is also unbeaten on the score of 36 runs.

Both will look to get more runs for the team on Day 2, however, the first thing in Kohli’s mind would be a well-deserved century. On the other hand, talking about West Indies, the wicket didn’t have much in it for the pacers or the spinners. And Windies’ bowlers were a little impatient in the first and final session.
