Over the years, the New Zealand fans are known to be the nicest people to watch the game inside the stadium. However, during the second T20I between the Blackcaps and Australia, two Kiwi fans could be seen holding placards of David Warner and Steve Smith crying. For the unversed, the photo is derived from the duo’s press conference after the Sandpaper gate.

Both had expressed their regrets for being involved in ball-tampering. They were banned from the game for a year. During the same phase, India registered their maiden Test series win in Australia. Apart from this, they were banned from becoming a captain across formats of the game. Even though Smith has been considered as vice-captain in Tests, Warner never led the team again.

Currently, Smith has been considered for the shortest format of the game, keeping the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind. On the other hand, the upcoming tournament would be Warner’s last assignment for his nation. Meanwhile, during the second T20I between the Trans-Tasman rivals early in the day, the two NZ fans were seen holding those placards. This has shocked the fans across the globe.

Meanwhile, trailing by 0-1 ahead of the second T20I, the home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite picking Smith early, Travis Head (45) kept hitting the Kiwi bowlers. On the other hand, skipper Mitchell Marsh (26) kept one end held up. However, the middle-order failed to make the most of the best start and the team was bowled out for 174. Lockie Ferguson took four wickets while Adma Milne, Ben Sears, and Mitchell Santner took two each.

In reply, the T20 World Cup 2021 finalists had a poor start as they lost four wickets for 29 runs. At this stage, Glenn Phillips and Josh Clarkson put together 45 runs. However, after this partnership was broken, the team was bowled out soon after at 102. For the visitors, Adam Zampa took four wickets.
