Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has troubled the England batters in the ongoing Ashes 2023. He didn’t play the first Test as he was expensive against India in the WTC Final 2023. However. in the second game at Lords, he took three wickets each in both innings and the team won the game and took a 2-0 lead in the series.

In the ongoing third Test, the two-time World Cup winner took two wickets in the first innings. After batting first, Australia amassed 263. In reply, the home team was reduced to 131/6. At this stage, skipper Ben Stokes (80) and cameos from tailenders such as Mark Wood and Chris Woakes helped the team reach 237. In the first innings, the Aussies took a lead of 26 runs.

In the second innings, despite Travis Head (77), the team could only reach 224, asking the home team to chase 251 runs. However, some of the batters had a good start but Starc has taken four wickets, with skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh taking one each. The left-arm pacer has kept the game alive. At the time of writing, the Three Lions is 214/6, needing 39 runs to win.

Starc’s spell helped the team reduce England to 171/6. However, the likes of Harry Brook (62*) and Chris Woakes (21*) have put together 43 runs and counting. This is the last recognized batting pair for the home team. They would like to take the team home as the likes of Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, and Mark Wood aren’t the best of batters in the team.
