India Cricket Board made the much-awaited announcement of India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, starting on September 22. The first match of the series will be played at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Considering the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, the team management decided to make 2 different squads for the series.

However, India’s veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal wasn’t included in any of the squads which was quite shocking for many fans. Interestingly, the management made a shocking decision and included R Ashwin in the squad, who will be playing his first ODI match after a gap of 21 months. Meanwhile, former legendary Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his disappointment as he wanted Chahal in the squad.

“Yuzvendra Chahal should have been here. He has not been given an opportunity. It is beyond my understanding. Either he has fought with someone or he has said something to someone, I don’t know. If we talk only about skill, his name should have been there in this team because a lot of Team India players are resting,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by Circle of Cricket.

However, the former great believes that the Indian team which will be playing the first 2 matches of the series will give tough competition and have the ability to beat Australia even without playing with their key players. 

“Team India have to continue the winning habit they developed in the Asia Cup. They have the ability to beat Australia as well. The team is slightly weak for the first two matches but I believe this slightly weak team can also come out on top against them,” he said.

“Australia were playing against South Africa and India were playing against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup. Australia are a different team. You will have to be at your best to beat Australia because they have decent batting till No. 7 or No. 8 and they have solid hitters,” he added.
