Monty Panesar praised Rohit Sharma in his latest interview. The former spinner from England had played a key role in the side’s Test series win in India in 2012/13. Knowing about his past experience in playing in India, one could predict his knowledge about the Indian conditions. The former left-arm orthodox spinner knows exactly what it takes for England to win Tests against India.

Ahead of the Test series between India and England, Panesar spoke about the chances of both the teams. The former English cricketer was of the opinion that Rohit Sharma would be the most dangerous batter against England. Panesar felt that on turning wickets Rohit is a different entity and bats well. Monty compared Rohit’s batting on turning wickets with Don Bradman.

Panesar felt that Rohit is the Don Bradman of turning wickets and added that he would be key for India who has great records on difficult conditions at home. “Rohit Sharma is the Don Bradman of turning pitches. He is the key man for India and his records are unbelievable,” claimed the former spinner. The take of Monty might not be wrong, as Rohit has a good record on turning wickets.

England have to get Rohit out early – Monty Panesar

Panesar added that England must get rid of Rohit early in order to win the series against India. “England have to get Rohit out early to have a chance of winning the Test series in India,” added Panesar in his statement. In the past, Rohit has performed well on wickets that turn. Rohit has 3 hundreds on rank turners in his career. The first of them was against South Africa at Vizag in 2019.

In the first innings, Rohit scored a hundred as well, but it came on a relatively batting friendly wicket. But with the progression of the match, wicket became difficult to bat on. Even then, Rohit scored a hundred in the match. Rohit also scored a hundred in 2021 at Chennai on a rank turner. Against Australia in 2023, Rohit scored a hundred at Nagpur on a raging turner.
