The second day of the ongoing Test match between South Africa and India was won by the host. Playing at the Supersports Park in Centurion, India, I failed to put up a show with both bat and ball. After getting bundled up for a mere 245 runs, the young Indian pacers failed to impress the crowd.

Starting the day at 208/8, India added around 40 odd runs and finished their inning at 245/10. Star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul smashed a magnificent century as he scored 115 runs off 137 balls before getting dismissed by Gerald Coetzee. For South Africa, pacer Kagiso Rabada took five wickets, while Nandre Burger took three.

Starting with a fiery spell from Pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, India got an early breakthrough. Siraj dismissed Aiden Markram and gave India a sigh of relief. However, after that, India failed to impress with the ball, as Dean Elgar and Tony De Zorzi added 93 runs for the second wicket.

Dean Elgar smashed a match-turning century for South Africa

Soon, after the lunch break, Jasprit Bumrah once again proved crucial for India as he clinched two quick wickets. However, Dean Elgar continued to hammer the Indian bowling line-up as he smashed the 14th Test century of his illustrious career. Playing his farewell game at his home ground, Elgar went not out for 140 off 211 balls with the help of 23 boundaries.

Despite some quick wickets, India will need to reassess their bowling plans to make a comeback on Day 3. There is no sign of rain in the next two days, so fans can expect a full-fledged game. India will need to get early breakthroughs on Day 3 to stay in the game. On Day 2, India also got some positives in the pace attack as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj troubled the opposition.
