‘Yaa hot Jabardast yaa phir disaster’ – Fans react as Excel Entertainment drops first look of Ranveer Singh in lead for upcoming ‘Don 3’

Excel Entertainment finally broke the suspense over Ranveer Singh starring in the upcoming ‘Don 3’. There were a lot of speculations over how Ranveer would take over and replace Shah Rukh Khan in the iconic movie franchise. The teaser video that breaks the suspense on his look and dialogue delivery has been met with mixed reactions from fans on social media. Many opined that there was a needless attempt from Ranveer to mimic the way SRK talks in his roles for Don movies and that it actually sounded like a spoof.

Earlier, director Farhan Akhtar had already broken the silence over the speculations of SRK leaving the franchise with a heartfelt note on Instagram. “In 1978, a character created by Salim-Javed and portrayed by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan with effortless elan captured the imagination of theatregoers across the country. That enigmatic character was Don. In 2006, Don was reimagined and brought to life by Shah Rukh Khan in his own irresistibly charming way. From Don’s sardonic wit to his cool but menacing fury, Shah Rukh embodied his persona. As writer and director, I had a great time creating not one but two, ‘Don’ films with Shah Rukh, and both experiences remain very close to my heart,” he wrote.

“The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr. Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space,” Farhan added.

The new teaser continues the iconic Don deliveries. It starts with Ranveer Singh’s voiceover in the dark surroundings of what looks like a high-rising building. He is sporting a leather biker jacket with sunglasses and can be seen smoking a cigarette. The voice-over says, “When will the sleeping lion wake up? The world wants to know. Go tell them, I have awoken and will appear again soon.” He further adds the iconic Don dialogue, “11 mulkon ki police dhundti hai mujhe, par pakadh paya hai mujhko kaun. Main hun Don (Wanted by the police of 11 countries, no one has been able to get me, I am Don).”
