World Cup Predictions: Brazil vs Cameroon

Brazil return to the Lusail Iconic Stadium to play their final group stage match on Friday night.

The Latin Americans have already bagged a round of 16 spot, so their only stake in the game is the top spot of the group. However, their opponents, Cameroon, have far more to play for.

The African side must beat Brazil to extend their World Cup stay.

They would also need Switzerland and Serbia to play out a draw at Stadium 974.

These propositions might sound rather implausible, but the only thing the Indomitable Lions can do now is to do their part and hope the rest plays out to their favour.

Rigobert Song’s team went toe to toe against Switzerland in their first match of the group. But they had to leave the pitch empty-handed as Breel Embolo, who was born in Cameroon, won it for the Swiss.

They would then trail Serbia 3-1 in their next match. A premature World Cup exit appeared eminent, but they fought back late to secure a 3-3 draw and keep their fight for survival to the last day.

Brazil arrived in Qatar as one of the title favourites and so far they have looked the part!

They kicked off their World Cup campaign at the Lusail Iconic Stadium with a 2-0 win over Serbia.

Tite’s men controlled the proceedings from the start and duly got rewarded for it. Switzerland presented a sterner challenge for the Seleção. But Brazil found a way and left the pitch with the full three points, thanks to a brilliant goal from Casemiro.

Brazil will look to go for the top spot of the group and make it three wins out of three.

But with many teams suffering to cope with piling up injuries, they might choose to rest some of their players and preserve their best for the knockouts.

Team News

So, Gabriel Jesus, Anthony, Gabriel Martinelli and Bruno Guimarães might expect to get a start.

Brazil have their fair share of injury concerns as well. Neymar, Alex Sandro, and Danilo all remained sidelined for the Cameroon match.

André Onana has left the Cameroon World Cup squad after falling out with the manager. So, Devis Epassy will start as the goalkeeper.

The experienced Vincent Aboubakar has also made a case for him to start after scoring against Serbia.

Our Prediction

Cameroon will come to this match to win and that exactly could lead to their demise.

Brazil will have more space to exploit against an attack-minded Cameroon.

So, Brazil should win this by 2-0

Date: 3 December

 Kickoff: 12:30 AM IST

 Venue: Lusail Iconic Stadium
