Rahul Dravid’s position has been under scrutiny since India got eliminated by England in the T20 World Cup.

As per latest rumours, the BCCI is planning to introduce a new head coach for the T20I format very soon.

The BCCI official was quoted as saying, “T20 is a different sport. It has a tough calendar and regular events.”

“The board wants Dravid to focus on ODIs and Tests, while the new coach handles just the T20Is. I can confirm that India will soon have a new coach.”

The 2022 T20 World Cup champions England follow the same method.

They have Brendon McCullum for Test cricket and Matthew Mott for white-ball cricket.

India are currently facing a tough time and need to bounce back quickly.

They lost the ODI series to New Zealand and crumbled to defeat to Bangladesh in the first ODI.

Former India spinner, Harbhajan Singh has also been saying that India should appoint someone who understands the T20 format as the coach.

“It’s not just about the captain. You should bring someone who has just retired. Someone who understands T20 format,” Harbhajan has said.

“Bring someone who has just retired, someone like Ashish Nehra, who has got a great cricketing brain.”

“Look what he has done at Gujarat Titans as a coach. I don’t mean just Ashish, it can be anyone who knows this format.” said Harbhajan.

Looks like Dravid’s reign as T20I coach is over. Watch this space.
