Who is MS Dhoni’s brother and why has he lived a life secluded from his cricket legend brother?

MS Dhoni has an elder brother Narendra Singh Dhoni. Although his popular biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ does not feature an elder brother, it is true Dhoni indeed has an elder brother who has lived a secluded life. Ever since Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their record-equalling fifth IPL title, photos of his elder brother Narendra have surfaced and gained traction on social media.

Recently, a photo surfaced on social media where Dhoni was pictured with his acquaintance. Many fans opined on Twitter that the person on the right of Dhoni was actually his big brother Narendra. So far, it was believed that Dhoni was not on talking terms with his brother for many years.

There is also an account on Twitter that goes by the name Narendra Singh Dhoni. There are pictures of him as a chief guest in a local cricket tournament. However, all of these are from 2017 or older. It is still not clear if he lives with Dhoni in Ranchi or not. The truth is the Dhoni brothers have never been seen together in public.

Talking about the absence from Dhoni’s biopic, Narendra has earlier given a few statements to The Telegraph in an interview. Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni and even his sister Jayanti Gupta had major roles to play in his life but his brother Narendra had already moved out of their hometown by the time Dhoni developed a taste in Cricket.  “Although I may have moral contributions in Mahi’s life, showcasing it would have been very difficult in the film,” Narendra said to The Telegraph.

There are speculations that Narendra Singh Dhoni is a politician who joined Samajwadi Party in 2013. Earlier, he was working with the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, it cannot be confirmed if he currently holds any position in the Party or is an active working member. Narendra got married on November 21 in 2007 and has a son and a daughter.
