In the second semi-final of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Australia beat South Africa by three wickets to qualify for the finals. During a nail-biting thriller, Australian batters rolled on to chase the target. However, during their batting, a kid went viral on social media for his iconic celebration after a wicket fall.

Gerald Coetzee’s clean-bowled delivery against Josh Inglis prompted a young spectator to emulate the iconic T-shirt wave celebration. He mimicked Sourav Ganguly’s iconic celebration at Lord’s Cricket Ground after winning the 2002 NatWest Series final against England. The child’s enthusiastic theatrics at Eden Gardens on Thursday instantly triggered memories among netizens who vividly recalled the iconic moment from 2002.

It’s worth noting that despite the fall of wickets, Australia managed to win the game with 16 balls in hand. For Aussies, Travis Head scored a half century to lead Australia to a comfortable position. Head in his innings, he scored 62 runs off 48 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes. However, a fighting bowling performance from Aiden Markram helped South Africa stay in the game.

South Africa failed to perform against Australian pacers

Earlier, in the game, Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first. His decision didn’t go well with the team, as he was dismissed for a duck by Mitchell Starc. Soon, his partner, Quinton de Kock, was dismissed by Josh Hazelwood. Suddenly, South Africa was looking lost in the game after losing four wickets for just 24 runs.

However, a steady 95-run partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller helped South Africa post a competitive total. Klaasen, in his inning, scored 47 runs off 48 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Miller, in his inning, scored 101 runs off 116 balls with the help of eight fours and five sixes.
