WATCH: Team India’s special gesture towards their Super Fans after Asia Cup 2023 triumph

On 17 September 2023, Team India won the Asia Cup in Colombo by thrashing Sri Lanka in the final by 10 wickets. Thus, for the first time since 2018, they managed to win a multi-nation tournament and ahead of the ODI World Cup, this might work as a much-needed booster for them. 

Meanwhile, fans were there as they supported the team and were in joy with the victory. But after the match, a video went viral where Team India came up with a great gesture towards their super fans, named Sudhir and Dipak in the team hotel. In the viral video, it was found that a backroom staff of the Men in Blue handed over the Asai Cup trophy to both of them and they were over the moon. They were seen having images and selfies with the trophy.

Team India now have eight Asia Cup titles to their name

Superfans like Sudhir are well known to every Team India fan as he has been showing his unconditional support to the team on any ground in any kind of match since the era of Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking of the match, Sri Lanka batted first and got bundled out for just 50 runs, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj’s six wickets. In reply, Rohit Sharma and his men chased down the target in 6.1 overs to lift the trophy.

After the win, Team India skipper, Rohit said: “It was a great performance, especially to come and play like that in a final. Shows the mentality of the team. Our seamers are actually working really hard for many years, so it’s pleasing for the side to see them rewarded like that. Very clinical. A performance like that will be cherished for a very long time.” 

“I never thought the ball was going to be doing that much, again it comes back to the skillset of the individuals. That’s very rare, you don’t see many guys who can move it in the air and off the pitch. And the other guys also who took part at various stages, they all played their part. We took all we can from this series, quite pleasing to move in this direction with this kind of confidence,” he further added.
